When photographers have fun …
The photographer is by excellence a moment-chaser – but sometimes we can anticipate the fun that this job can provide, only by thinking how they deal with moments like the following …

Only last week this image of German chancellor Angela Merkel made the headlines internationally. She is pictured from a great angle, while eating a pickled herring at the Warnemuender fishery in Sassnitz, Germany. (AFP PHOTO / DPA /JENS BÜTTNER)

Londoners were amazed to see a 30 foot long T.rex strapped to a flatbed truck, apparently taking the final journey to its autopsy. Bearing a giant toe tag and only partially covered by blood-soaked sheets, the drooling prehistoric beast stunned and delighted thousands of witnesses as it took a scenic route through the busy streets from 7am in the morning, with only rush hour standing between the dinosaur and its dissection. Causing intrigue from the streets of Brixton, through Central London and passing the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, London Bridge and Buckingham Palace along the way, the T. rex triggered mass speculation on social media all morning before National Geographic Channel revealed it was a stunt to promote the broadcast of two-hour special T. rex Autopsy this Sunday evening at 8pm. These incredible photos of bare, blackened trees offering perfect contrast against an orange backdrop look like something from a Dali painting. The backdrop is actually one of the highest sand dunes in the world, which measures up to 400m tall. Photographer Mark Brodkin had only a few minutes to capture the surreal images as the low light from the sun hit the base of the enormous dune. The 47-year-old was visiting Deadvlei, a white clay pan located within the sand dunes of Sossusvlei, in the Namib-Naukluft Park in Namibia, Africa, where these photos were taken. Deadvlei is surrounded by the highest sand dunes in the world with the highest reaching 300-400 metres. (Mark Brodkin/REX_Shutterstock)

This is the picture perfect moment a blue tit pauses to admire its crystal clear reflection in a pool in Suffolk. Thanks to the perfectly still water, the feathered creature was offered a view of itself in brilliant clarity - leading to a series of stunning images where there appears to be two birds in frame. And the small bird's distinctive blue, white and yellow colouring meant that it certainly answered the question of 'who's a pretty birdie'. The moment the tit checked out its own reflection as it paused for a drink was caught on camera by wildlife photographer Paul Sawer. And it wasn't only Paul who was a fan, with the bird offering up a whole host of poses as it admired itself from numerous angles. (Paul Sawer/FLPA/REX_Shutterstock)

You might think that being a celebrity photographer for red carpet events is boring, as still and correct frames need to be shot. But look, we have this great moment where actor Jason Statham legendary charm overwhelms Melissa McCarthy, as they attend a SiriusXM event in New York. (Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images for SiriusXM)

British fashion has always been in the avantgarde, but the graduate shows are even bolder, sometimes with the help of the catwalk photographers. This is a final moment of a collection by Maria Phillipoua during University of Salford Graduate Fashion Week, London. (LNP/REX_Shutterstock)

A photographer has created stunning light paintings... using just a smartphone. In his 'Rooted' series, Keow wee Loong used the handset's camera on a seven minuute exposure to draw otherworldly patterns in the air. While his 'Time Vortex' images show the blurs of light captured whenn speeding through a subway tunnel. Kuala Lumpar-based Wee Loong used a new Huawei P8 phone for his work and believes the results are better than can be achieved with a standard DSLR camera. (Keow wee Loong/REX_Shutterstock)

With his beautiful colouring it's no wonder that this little possum loves nothing better than snuggling up to his keeper's blonde hair. 6-month-old 'Digger' is a golden brushtail possum and is being cared for by Tenielle Matheson at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Queensland, Australia. The vulnerable species was once common in Australia but is now only found in Tasmania. Digger's gorgeous golden colouring is down to a genetic mutation acquired directly from a parent. In Digger's case this is from his father 'Steve', who is also a golden brushtail and one of the Sanctuary's residents. (Newspix/REX_Shutterstock)
