The 68th Festival de Cannes (13-24 May 2015) has chosen to pay tribute to Ingrid Bergman with this year's poster, following on from Marcello Mastroianni in 2014. Hollywood star Ingrid Bergman was a modern icon, an emancipated woman, an intrepid actress, and a figurehead for the new realism. She changed roles and adoptive countries as the mood took her, but never lost sight of her quintessential grace and simplicity. Based on a photograph by David Seymour, co-founder of Magnum Agency, Hervé Chigioni, who also created for last year's remarkable Festival poster, was once again behind this year's image, with his graphic designer Gilles Frappier. Ready for the perfect shot! A beautiful snowy owl looks like she is flying above a cloud, but in fact she is gliding inches above a snowplain in a hunt for food. The owls fit in perfectly with their surroundings as both the male and female, who has darker markings on her feathers referred to as barres, hunt for voles. The female is so low to the ground she is almost touching it as she spots her prey in the snow. The owl's bright yellow eyes search the landscape for some food and on this occasion, the female was successful in her hunt. Snowy owls fly silently when they hunt and often approach from a low angle. They use their sharp talons to catch their prey and will usually fly a short distance before landing to eat. Snowy owls tend to swallow their food whole and, after eating, will return to the hunt. (Rex Features)
